Are you looking for the grooviest, hippest, funky freshest, mind-blowingly coolest, show stopping, street-style-photographer-attention-grabbing, “Mhmmmm”est, head turning, jump for joy, shake a tail feather, body loving, feel good, outright fabulous trousers? The search is over.[gallery size="large" ids="512,511,513,514,515"]I was enlightened to the world of The Seafarer last summer, at a charming Cafè tucked away in a cozy dim-lit alley in Venice, where I spotted an Italian "Bellezza" casually leaning at the bar, sipping an espresso with one hand and holding her cigarette in the other. She oozed “La Dolce Vita” and she was wearing these: Model: Circe, Color: Ken Scottpaired with a black, sleeveless crop-top, revealing a mystic summer glow. I was so fascinated at the trousers- the fit was perfect (form fitting, yet not constricting), high waisted and those colors… Mama Mia! It was the first pair of trousers I had a total crush on and just had to know more. I asked about the brand, in broken Italian, which led me to The Seafarer- and now after looking into this astounding brand- I feel terribly ignorant. Why?Because The Seafarer trousers are the original bell bottoms: Founded in 1896 by Tony Anzalone, with the sole purpose to benefit Navy sailors- so they could easily role up their trousers and weather the storm.Because The Seafarer trousers have been worn by  Bardot, Andress, Birkin, Welch, Bisset, Fawcett.Because The Seafarer trousers are displayed in the Metropolitan Museum in New York, as a design masterpiece. To be fair, the brand has only relaunched in 2013 after a century of “navigating” and are already making a splash. Trying these on myself (Model: Circe, Color: Ken Scott), I am immediately aghast by the quality of the product and the fact that I am wearing something so iconic to our history. It feels like a second skin, with plenty of room to stretch (aka. dance), and boy… does it compliment the feminine form. With a pair of heels, the legs seem to go on for miles (obviously due to the intricate shaping) resulting in a total confidence booster. Not only are bell-bottoms available, but a range of denim including wide leg, skinny, straight and boyfriend. The trousers are timeless and are sure to be a wise investment (as long as you keep that itty-bitty waist!) I argue it is wiser dishing out on quality than continuously compromising on “meh” pants resulting in discomfort, a potential sausage leg fiasco, and potentially spending more money, through replacing unloved, mass-produced basic-denim.When looking closer at these trousers, you notice the fine stitching and tailoring, and I ask: Why cant all pants be made with such care anymore?

“They have a perfect cut, not forced, flawless, capable of becoming an age, telling an idea. Representing the smile of the sailor who kisses his girlfriend after the war.”- The Seafarer

Two key impressions strike me: 1) The pants flawlessly combine tradition and innovation and are composed of the highest quality…Made in Italy. 2) Emotionally, I feel free, free of cares. Strong. Playful. Truly, like a women capable of anything. Essentially I feel, happy (might be that sailor smile!). These emotions turn into me daydreaming- I could picture myself dancing the night away in Mayfair, grabbing a burger in Brookyln, or walking the beaches of St. Tropez. You become a part of The Seafarer’s powerful legacy looking into it’s future, central to it’s roots; you become confident to journey your own adventure, whether at sea or perhaps in a café in Venice, with the trousers supporting your every stride.Find them at: http://www.theseafarer.com/
