As you know the Chanel Metiers d'Art show was presented in my beautiful hometown Salzburg, Austria in December and I already have shared my review of the show and travel log of the trip, but now I want to share with you the actual location of the show: Schloss (translated Castle) Leopoldskron. Many of you might recognize it as the mansion in the Sound of Music, but this Schloss is also one of the world's most prominent and historic landmarks for culture and in international cooperation and affairs. This is the location where the iconic Salzburg Music Festival was established in 1910 (by Max Reinhardt) and where an annual global seminar takes place to foster solutions to challenges we face around the world. (Find more about it's rich history here)What immediately struck me was that Schloss Leopoldskron was comfortable and made you feel welcome, unlike many mansions which are extravagant, over the top and make you feel uncomfortable to even think about sitting on the velvet chaise. Here you could truly unwind to enjoy the tranquility of the lakeside view and mountains or read in the dim lit library in peace. The authentic beauty and unique feel to each of the rooms confirmed Schloss Leopoldskron to be the perfect location for Chanel. The photos above show the rooms where the actual "catwalk" took place and the tailor made curtains shown are a gift from Karl Lagerfeld to the Schloss as a thank you (8 sets of curtains, of the highest quality). This tour was simply magical :)
